The lodge and the organization was built in memory of Lucas Boquist, who past away at the age of 15 from complications of leukemia. Lucas loved to hunt deer and always dreamt of shooting a white tail buck. Unfortunately Lucas never lived that dream. So Larry and Lorri Beyer, Pat and Laura Beyer and the rest of the KCK board members try their best to make dreams come true for other children.
Larry always says, “Through Lucas’s passing an idea was born, through this idea his memory lives on.”
The KCK lodge is located outside the village of Gleason in the northwoods of Wisconsin, it is within walking distance of the Prairie River. The lodge has easy access to the main snowmobile trails of the area and the township has opened the road in front of the lodge to four wheelers, so you can leave the lodge without having to trailer four wheelers. It has 4 cozy bedrooms that can sleep up to eleven guests and has 2 baths. A great room with a rustic feel to it has a kitchen and living area where stories are told and tears are shed from time to time. While some of KCK kids are out on their adventures with their guides, we have found a number of Moms snuggled into a blanket on a sofa in front of the fireplace sleeping or reading a book.
